Bandwidth, Speed, Reliability, Economical

What do these four things have in common?  Or maybe a better question, “What service does not provide one or more of these in your community? In your neighborhood?”

Indianola Municipal UtilitiesIn today’s market, there are several communications services.  Phone, internet, Cable TV, Satellite TV, Cell phone…am I missing one?  Some providers have great phone service and others TV service, but it seems like most people have complaints about the service they currently have available. It is to slow, unreliable, too expensive, will not allow several people on at the same time,….well you know what I am talking about.  Everyone will most likely agree that Bandwidth, Speed, Reliability and Economical communication services could be improved.

Where is this conversation leading?  Indianola Municipal Utilities is “embarking on a Broadband fiber Feasibility Study”  What does this mean?  You are going to be asked about the service you currently have available.  Is good? Is it not-so-good?  Why? What are your current and future business or residential communications needs?

The outcome of the survey will provide the IMU Board of Trustees and staff with a better idea of what our citizen’s expectations have become.  This in turn will provide a picture of what services IMU will need to incorporate into a plan that will meet the public’s demand.

IMU has partnered with Magellan Advisors, an international broadband and telecommunications planning firm to conduct a feasibility study relative to our community’s communications requirements.

Affordable, high-speed broadband services are available in Indianola now, but only in limited areas.  The On-Line Survey will determine the feasibility for an updated system to all citizens.  Take a few minutes to complete the survey and help IMU develop a communications network sufficient for our future needs.

Visit the I-M-U website after March 1st and complete the survey
