EXIT Realty North Star-ITown has created an event aimed at providing the Indianola Community with an opportunity to hear about changes that affect the community.
We are calling this event "Town Talk".
Our first event took place on August 18th with discussion centered around the current status of our County's Courthouse. Doug Shull, Chairman of the Warren County Supervisors, provided an update on planning for a new vote to replace the courthouse and jail facilities. He anticipates the vote will most likely occur in March 2017. The supervisors are gathering information about locations, expected costs of the new facilities, and the impact on residents of the county.
Our second event is set for Thursday, September 22nd.
The focus of the second "Town Talk" will be the "Microsoft Effect". What effect will the addition of a new Microsoft facility in Warren County have on our economy?
Stacie LaVon, Project Director for Greater Des Moines Partnership, and Hollie Askey, Executive Director of Warren County Economic Development Corporation, will lead the discussion.
In July, when it was announced that Microsoft would be building a new facility in NW Warren County, it was estimated that the commercial tax base for Warren County would more than double when the facility is completed. That will make a huge impact on the County's overall budget, while at the same time creating development opportunities in the area near and around the new Microsoft facility.
