2017 Real Estate Market Summary

The real estate market in in the Indianola  / Warren County area was very active in 2017. The local 2017 real estate market summary shows average prices of residential homes increased throughout the year due to a lack of inventory.

Nationally a normal market carries a six month inventory of homes for sale. The national residential inventory at the end of 2017 was 3.4 months  







New Home Inventory has also decreased significantly due to the lack of existing homes on the market. The national average at the end of 2017 was 4.6 months.

Market statistics for the Indianola market show that this market is a mirror image of the national market.  With roughly 70 homes per month listed for sale through brokerages during 2017, residential properties that were priced right for the area sold in a matter of weeks, many times a matter of days.  The lack of inventory created instances of multiple offers on many properties with some properties selling at prices above the listing price.


227 Indianola residential properties sold through brokerages in 2017, with an average price of $194,566.  This is about a 4% increase over the 2016 averages.






46 acreages in the area surrounding Indianola also sold through brokerages in 2017 with the average sale price of $286,657.
